Karina Myskiv from the NKUA team presented the pilot CyTOF analysis results at the 51st Annual Panhellenic Medical Congress held in Athens, Greece on 22 - 24 May 2025.
The analysis focused on immunological and aberrant plasma cell populations. The data suggest changes in chemokine receptor dynamics that may be relevant to disease progression from MGUS/sMM to active MM.
The primary analytical method used was Multiparametric Mass Cytometry by Time-of-Flight (CyTOF). A 30-antibody panel was used to conduct high-dimensional single-cell immunophenotyping. Future work will employ an expanded 50-antibody panel, which includes markers related to immune cell activation and exhaustion, to further study the immunological microenvironment in bone marrow, peripheral blood, and aberrant plasma cell populations.
This work was conducted with support from the research teams of Prof. Kastritis and Prof. Tsitsilonis.
